Tom Senjo is a filmmaker and video artist based in Sheffield.

The Early Years

90s - 2000s

Senjo was born in 1994 in Worcestershire, England. Senjo routinely raided the local second and shops when not in school, clearing them out of VHS films and religiously watching them on repeat until the tapes degrade. As well as this, Senjo would write numerous film concepts and experiment with tape recorders of his own.

After High School, and with no Media course available, Senjo would study theatre at college.

Performance and Proximité

2010 - 2018

t was during his time here that Senjo discovered a hidden talent for acting. He would exceed expectations for his performances and, alongside his new friend and creative partner Jacob Taylor-Kipping, would finally begin to direct theatre showcases and short films with friends outside of college.

After College, Senjo relocated to London to carry on his acting, working with the physical theatre company Fourth Monkey, culminating in well-received performances at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Following this, Senjo would reunite with Taylor-Kipping to learn more about the filmmaking process and create the Proximité projects, a collection of shorts ranging from comedy to drama. These projects would garner festival success, especially in the United States, Winning the best International Short of the prestigious Savannah Film Festival.

Where are we now?

2019 - present

In 2018, Senjo and Taylor-Kipping parted ways. Senjo studied Contemporary Media at the University of Westminster to continue his film education.

In 2020 During the covid lockdowns, Senjo began work on two lockdown films, with the intention of these two films being mirror opposites of each other of the same theme of using technology to seek connection.

The Pale Blue Light is one of pessimism, shot entirely by Senjo during a lockdown. On the other hand, Tin Cans is the optimistic side, a collabrarive film uniquely shot simultaneously in the UK and Germany.

Senjo relocated to Sheffield and is in the R&D phase of several projects.
